Kampala, Uganda – As Uganda prepares to elect two new representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), one candidate is emerging as a standout choice for the regional parliament.
Dr. Tendo Ronex Kisembo, an official aspirant on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket , is being hailed as the best candidate to champion Uganda's interests in Arusha. His campaign is built on a platform of breaking down non-tariff barriers, advocating for youth inclusion in trade, and strengthening Uganda's voice in regional affairs.
Unlike conventional contenders, Dr. Kisembo brings nearly two decades of Pan-African experience to the race. He is the Group CEO of the Uganda Chapter of Afrika Mashariki Fest, a platform that convenes young Africans to advance unity and integration . This hands-on experience has earned him significant cross-border endorsements, including blessings from Mama Maria Nyerere, the widow of Tanzania's founding father , and a major endorsement from the Pan African Women's Organisation (PAWO) Uganda Chapter, joined by Tanzanian allies .
What sets Dr. Kisembo apart is his strategic philosophy. He argues that "competition is at the bottom, people at the top are collaborating," advocating for an East Africa that sets prices rather than one that negotiates from a position of weakness . His campaign focuses on resilience and adaptive intelligence, arguing that EALA needs leaders who can ask hard questions about regional integration and trade barriers .
Linguistically, Dr. Kisembo is fluent across English, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi,French,Arabic, and Luganda—a strategic advantage in the culturally diverse EALA chamber . His campaign represents a generational shift, promising to bridge the gap between policy and the everyday realities of East African citizens.
With the by-election scheduled for April 15, 2026 , Dr. Tendo Ronex Kisembo stands out as the candidate best positioned to be a strong voice for Uganda and a fresh, collaborative force for East Africa.
