I’m the Best Choice for Alebtong—Incumbent MP Dorcas Acen Vows to Retain NRM Flag

Alebtong, Uganda – Alebtong District Woman Member of Parliament, Dorcas Acen, has rallied National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders against segregation and hostility as the party nears its primaries for the Woman MP flag bearer.

Speaking on Friday during a meeting with NRM leaders from village, parish, and sub-county levels across Moroto County, Acen acknowledged the growing number of contestants vying for the same position but urged party members to welcome them and listen to their agendas without harassment.

“There are many people coming to contest with me for the NRM flag, but let us not chase them away. Let us listen to what they have to offer,"Acen said.

She emphasized the importance of unity within the party, warning that division could weaken NRM’s chances in the general elections.

The incumbent MP, who has held the NRM flag for five years, confidently stated that she was not ashamed of her record and was ready to retain the party’s ticket. *"I have been a loyal flag bearer, and I am the better choice for Alebtong. I have a clear development plan for our people," she declared.

George Sunday Opio, Chairperson of Apala Town Council, praised Acen for her contributions to the district, including donating delivery beds to Apala Health Center III and establishing a vocational training center that has equipped many youths with employable skills.

“Hon. Acen has shown commitment to improving healthcare and empowering our youth. Such leaders deserve support," Opio said.

Moses Otongo Muziki, Acen’s political assistant, also appealed to the NRM leadership to give her another chance, citing her experience and development-focused agenda. “She has the vision and capacity to take Alebtong forward. The party should trust her with the flag once again," he urged.

As the race for the NRM ticket heats up, Acen’s call for fair competition and her track record in service delivery may prove decisive in securing her re-election bid.
