Amolatar Leaders Rally Residents for Crucial NRM Village Barazas to Verify Flag Bearers

In a significant push to strengthen grassroots democracy, the office of the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Amolatar has issued a clarion call for mass participation in the forthcoming village barazas.

The call aligns with the nationwide directive from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, urging all party members to attend the meetings scheduled for this Friday .

The primary objective of these community gatherings is to verify the status of candidates previously selected as NRM flag bearers for the upcoming Local Council I (LC I) and Women Council elections. "The purpose of the baraza is to verify that the candidates who were selected as NRM flag bearers for LC I and Women Council elections are still available, alive, and willing to contest on the party ticket," explained NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi .

Residents will also address any vacancies that may have arisen. In instances where a flag bearer has withdrawn or is no longer interested, community members will identify replacements through consensus under the guidance of the NRM Electoral Commission registrar . This process is designed to ensure that every village has a duly verified candidate ahead of the national nomination process .

The exercise is viewed as a critical milestone in implementing the party’s electoral roadmap. By gathering in their respective villages starting at 10:00 a.m., members will play a direct role in confirming the party's candidates for the forthcoming national Local Government elections .

"The success of these elections begins with every member taking part in the village baraza," Dr. Odoi stated, underscoring the importance of attendance . The call also resonates with local efforts to maintain unity and cohesion within the party, as previously emphasized by the Deputy RDC for Amolatar, Mr. Obonyo Magwar.

Following the verification exercise, the list of confirmed flag bearers will be forwarded for endorsement by the Office of the NRM Secretary General between July 11 and July 14. The nominated candidates will then contest in the LC I and Women Council elections, scheduled for July 28 and July 23, respectively .
