Alebtong, Uganda – The Woman Member of Parliament for Alebtong District, Hon. Dorcas Acen, has called on supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Ajuri County to choose strong and competitive individuals as party flag bearers ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking on Saturday during a meeting with NRM leaders from villages, parishes, and sub-counties across Ajuri, Acen emphasized the importance of fielding candidates capable of defeating opposition contenders from parties such as the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), National Unity Platform (NUP), and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
“We need flag bearers who are strong, credible, and can win elections. The opposition is watching us closely, and we must be prepared,” she told attendees.
Acen also used the platform to appeal to the NRM supporters in Alebtong to give her a second chance to serve as the party’s Woman MP flag bearer, promising to continue representing their interests effectively at the national level.
“I am asking you to trust me once again. Let us walk this journey together for the good of our people,” she added.
She further pointed out that Ajuri is under the national spotlight, as the current Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, is contesting for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda. Acen urged locals to throw their weight behind Obua’s candidacy, saying his elevation would bring greater attention and development to the region.
“The whole country is watching Ajuri. Let’s unite and show that we are a stronghold of the NRM,” she concluded.
