Dokolo, Uganda – July 17, 2025
The Territorial Police in Dokolo District have arrested 14 individuals believed to be hired bouncers following a late-night intelligence-led operation. The suspects were intercepted around 9:30 PM last night aboard a taxi drone with registration number UBP 983P along the Lira–Dokolo highway, in the Rego-Rego area.
According to a statement released by North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the bouncers were allegedly hired from Lira City and are suspected to have been recruited by a contestant for the Dokolo South parliamentary seat. Preliminary findings suggest that the group may have been mobilized to cause violence in the area.
The vehicle they were traveling in has since been impounded and is currently parked at Dokolo Central Police Station, where the suspects are also being held as investigations continue.
“The motive behind their movement is yet to be fully established,” said SP Okema. “However, preliminary indications point to a planned disruption, possibly linked to political activities in the area.”
He added a stern warning to individuals engaging in illegal security activities: “We want to send a strong message to those who call themselves bouncers — desist from involving yourselves in any form of security operations. You are not recognized by the Constitution, and your actions are illegal.”
Police say more details will be shared as investigations progress.
