Oyam District, Uganda – A 34-year-old man, Steven Okodi, from Leladyel, Wanglobo Parish in Otwal Sub-county, Oyam District, is searching for his long-lost mother, Betty Akidi, who disappeared in 1992 when he was just 8 months old.
According to Okodi, his father had always told him that his mother had died. However, recent revelations have brought new hope—he has discovered that Akidi might still be alive. His search began after he traced and reconnected with some of his mother’s relatives.
Okodi explained that his maternal grandmother is Janet Amugu, daughter of Erinayo Ojera and Cecilia Aceng of the Palwaa clan.
He now believes that his mother could be living in Mbarara, Mityana, or Karuma, and is appealing to the public for any information that could help him reunite with her after more than three decades apart.
