Scheduled for October 2026, this year's pilgrimage expands its scope to traverse Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, symbolizing the interconnected struggle for independence across the region. The itinerary is meticulously timed to coincide with landmark dates in East African history, urging participants to remember the sacrifices that secured the region's freedom .
The Safari will pay tribute to Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, who passed away on 14th October 1999, and Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, who rested on 10th October 2005. The journey will include visits to significant historical sites, including a stop in Akokoro village in Apac District, Uganda, where Hon. Jimmy Akena continues to uphold the legacy of his father, Dr. Obote . In Tanzania, the pilgrimage will culminate in Butiama, at the ancestral home of Mwalimu Nyerere in Mwitongo, where his son, Madaraka Nyerere, often hosts visitors to the historical site .
The third edition's climax aligns with Kenya's Mashujaa Day (Heroes' Day) on 20th October, a national holiday commemorating the arrest of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and five other patriots—the "Kapenguria Six"—on 20th October 1952 for their role in the Mau Mau rebellion, a pivotal moment that ultimately paved the way for Kenya's independence .

The pilgrimage begins in Uganda, coinciding with the country's Independence Day celebrations on 9th October . It will then traverse Kenya, stopping in Nairobi and Gatundu, before concluding in Butiama . The theme for the 2026 pilgrimage is "Espousing the Enduring Legacy and Values of Our Founding Fathers: a Call for Enhanced Efforts Towards a Politically Federated EAC."
