Little Heart of Faith Director Launches Monthly Cultural Dances to Heal Domestic Violence Trauma in Dokolo

ACANPII B VILLAGE, DOKOLO – In the quiet community of ACcanpii B village, ACANPII Parish, Dokolo Sub County, a unique effort to heal domestic wounds is taking shape – not in a courtroom or clinic, but on the dancing ground and football pitch.

Goddy Ogwang, the director of Little Heart of Faith, has announced a new community initiative aimed at reducing stress caused by domestic violence through monthly cultural dance events and regular football training for young people.

According to Ogwang, the rise in domestic violence has left many residents silently struggling with anxiety and depression. His proposed solution is rooted in tradition and teamwork.

“So many people are stressed as a result of domestic violence,” Ogwang explained. “But when they come together to watch cultural dance, they can forget their troubles for a while and ease their lives.”

Starting next month, the cultural dance will be held every month in the village. Ogwang believes the rhythmic movements, storytelling, and communal spirit of traditional dance can serve as a powerful emotional release – a temporary escape that helps people return to their homes feeling lighter.

But the plan doesn’t stop with dance. Ogwang also wants to introduce regular football training sessions for the young ones in Scampi B and surrounding areas.

“By introducing football training, I want to identify talents,” he said. “Many children here love the game, but no one has ever organized them. We can discover future players while keeping them active and focused.”

For Ogwang, the two activities – dance for the wider community and football for the youth – work hand in hand. Dance brings villagers together across generations, while football gives young people a constructive outlet and a potential path toward sporting careers.

Local residents have reacted with cautious optimism. “We need something to take our minds off the fighting at home,” said one mother who asked not to be named. “If Mr. Ogwang can give us that, even one evening a month, it is a blessing.”

Little Heart of Faith, which has been involved in community welfare programs in Dokolo District, plans to hold tcultural dance at the end of every month.

Ogwang has called on local leaders and parents to support the initiative, adding: “Peace begins in the heart. If we can help one person forget their pain through dance, or save one child through football, we have done our part.”
