Lango College Amazes Parents with Turnaround Story, Says Headteacher Sam Bob Okino

LIRA, UGANDA – Parents of Lango College students were left amused and impressed during a Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) meeting on Saturday, as the school’s administration detailed a significant transformation in both discipline and academic performance under the leadership of Headteacher Sam Bob Okino.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Okino confidently reassured parents that the institution has shed its reputation for indiscipline. He noted that while some members of the public still perceive the school as it was eight years ago, the reality on the ground is vastly different.

"Some people still think Lango College is as bad as it was eight years ago, but that is not the case now," Okino stated. "We have improved both in discipline and academics. The Ministry of Education has also responded to our needs by sending us good teachers who are performing very well."

He encouraged the community to enroll their children at the school, emphasizing that the institution now has the necessary resources and staff to provide a quality education. "People should send their children to us," he added, "because we have everything required for their success."

The meeting also brought good news regarding infrastructure. The PTA Chairman, Felix Ogwang Otim, revealed that Lango College is among the 120 schools selected by the government for a major renovation initiative. He detailed a robust development plan that includes the construction of 50 teachers' quarters and a new administration block.

"We are happy to announce that Lango College is on the government's priority list for renovation," said Ogwang. "However, we are calling upon the Lira City leaders to step up and support this school. The last assistance we received from the city was when Lira was still a municipality. We need their help to complement the national government's efforts."

Adding to the optimism, the Director of Studies (DOS), John Ocol, assured parents that the academic trajectory of the school is on the rise. He expressed confidence that the current student body is poised for excellence.

"We have started performing well, and I want to tell the parents that this year, our students will pass highly," Cool declared.

The meeting concluded with parents expressing renewed confidence in the school's leadership, encouraged by the combination of improved student conduct, government investment, and promising academic projections.
