Veersity Junior School Pioneers Smart Learning with 'Talking Pen' Technology in Lira City

LIRA CITY, UGANDA – In a bold leap towards modernizing education, Veersity Junior School in Anai ward, Lira City West Division, has introduced an innovative digital learning system that is transforming how young pupils engage with their studies. At the heart of this new approach is the "talking pen," a cutting-edge technological tool designed to make learning more interactive and effective.

According to Patrick Otim, a representative of the school, the "talking pen" works by pronouncing words aloud when pointed at text, enabling pupils to learn correct pronunciation and improve their reading skills independently. This technology is part of a broader rollout of modern teaching facilities at the school, including new classrooms and well-maintained playing grounds, aimed at providing a holistic educational environment.

"The new technology helps the pupils learn from it well," Otim stated, emphasizing the commitment of the school's staff to child development. He added that Veersity Junior School has a team of dedicated teachers who are "always giving maximum support to children," ensuring that the integration of technology is complemented by strong human guidance.

Adongo Sarah Okema, the Headteacher of the nursery section, reiterated the school's dedication to comprehensive skill development. "We always teach our children with all skills," she said, highlighting the school's focus on preparing pupils not just academically but with a well-rounded foundation for their future education.

This move positions Veersity Junior School at the forefront of educational innovation in the Lango sub-region, demonstrating a growing trend of integrating technology to bridge learning gaps and improve literacy among young learners.
