Future Presidents in the Making: Golden Bell Director Champions Leadership Skills for Pupils

Lira City, Uganda – In a passionate call to reshape early childhood education, the Director of Golden Bell Nursery and Primary School, Susan Ogwal, has emphasized the critical importance of instilling leadership skills in children from a young age.

Madam Ogwal made these remarks on Friday during a highly charged prefectship campaign at the school’s campus in Kakoge B, Lira City West Division. The event saw a remarkable display of talent, as pupils delivered spirited speeches, vying for various leadership positions within the student body.

According to the Director, the ability to communicate effectively is the cornerstone of leadership. She outlined four key listening skills but highlighted speaking as the most vital tool for the next generation.

"We are grooming youth leaders to be good speakers and future leaders," Ogwal stated. "That is why we focus on holistic learning at Golden Bell. We want a child who, even if they go to a radio station, can speak fluently without fear."

She emphasized that the school's approach goes beyond academics, aiming to produce confident individuals who can command a room and articulate their ideas clearly. This philosophy was evident as the young candidates took to the podium, each promising to serve their fellow pupils with integrity.

The newly elected prefects, who were chosen following the spirited campaigns, pledged to provide good leadership "without fear or favor." They vowed to be accessible to their peers and to uphold the standards of the school.

"Even in public places, our children do not fear to speak," Ogwal added proudly. "We are not just teaching them to read and write; we are teaching them to lead."

The event concluded with a call to the elected leaders to be role models, setting a precedent for the younger pupils and proving that leadership is not about age, but about courage and character.
