Kampala, Uganda – Dr. Tendo Ronex Kisembo, an aspirant for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), has shared a deeply personal Mother’s Day message recalling his humble upbringing selling newspapers, sweets, and envelopes on the streets of Kampala with his late mother.

In a heartfelt statement laced with comradeship greetings, Dr. Kisembo took a reflective tone, urging Ugandans never to forget the sacrifices their mothers make to raise and care for their children.

“I vividly recall the years my mother and I spent at Ben Kiwanuka Street (UTODA Office) and New Taxi Park vending newspapers, sweets, and envelopes,” Dr. Kisembo wrote. “Indeed, grace is unmerited favour.”

He added in a mix of English and Luganda: “Abadde Katonda era Mutonzi waffe y’asalawo” (It is God, our Creator, who decides).

the EALA hopeful took the opportunity to celebrate Ugandan women in leadership, specifically naming Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, First Lady and Minister of Education Janet Museveni, Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, and Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo.

Dr. Kisembo thanked President Yoweri Museveni for his deliberate policy of uplifting women into leadership positions and integrating them into social and economic activities across the country.

“He thanks women who are in leadership… and also thanked President Museveni for uplifting women in leadership and entering socio-economic activities,” the statement read.

He wished all mothers a reflective and joyful Mother’s Day, concluding that their suffering and care for children should never be taken for granted.
