Lira, Uganda – Following the decisive general elections of January 15, 2026, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has drawn widespread praise from political analysts and NRM loyalists for appointing three new ministers from the Lango sub-region—a move being described as a well-earned acknowledgment of the region’s unprecedented electoral loyalty.
In a passionate political dossier titled “Why H.E Y.K Museveni Deserves Flowers for Appointing Three New Ministers from Lango,” international development expert and newly elected NRM Flag Bearer for Lira City West, Eddy Morris Ogweng, argues that the appointments are not merely routine but a masterclass in cadre identification, training, and placement—core principles of the NRM revolution.
Ogweng noted that the 2026 election results revealed a dramatic shift in Lango’s political alignment, with President Museveni securing an extraordinary 84% of the vote—the highest in Lango’s voting record.
“This is a serious testament of the love and admiration deeply entrenched for the old man with a hat,” Ogweng wrote.
He argued that such overwhelming support demanded recognition, and the President’s decision to elevate three Lango sons and daughters to ministerial positions constitutes a fitting reward for loyalty and consistency.
Ogweng’s analysis also credited what he called the “political waves” that shook Parliament following the elections, transforming it into a corruption-free legislative body under a new governance framework dubbed “Kisanja No Sleep.”
He traced this transformation partly to political maneuvers initiated by Justice Minister Hon. Norbert Mao, which—rather than destabilizing the establishment—ultimately strengthened the balance of power within Parliament.
“All these have metamorphosed into what we are now calling a corruption-free Parliament under a new government called ‘Kisanja No Sleep,’ thanks to His Excellency,” Ogweng stated.
A significant portion of the dossier was dedicated to the role of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and its leader, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, whom Ogweng fondly addressed as “Gen. MK.”
“The PLU will always be credited for the craftsmanship of the current phase of our country,” he wrote, praising Gen. Muhoozi’s senior role as Presidential Advisor for Special Operations.
Ogweng specifically thanked Gen. Muhoozi, PLU Secretary General Hon. Daudi Kabanda, and the entire PLU Plenum for ensuring that President Museveni “begins a steadfast yet peaceful and graceful aging like old wine.”
He added: “Many had indeed not understood what special operations mean, but the craftsmanship of the new leadership at Parliament and the Cabinet is seen as forward-thinking and future-ready.”
Among the three new ministerial appointees, Ogweng singled out Hon. Sam Engola as “the enduring symbol of patriotism” and the fulcrum of NRM strength in Lango.
He recounted Engola’s decades of sacrifice, including multiple election defeats at the hands of opposition elements once known as the “Lira Boys,” who sought to discredit the NRM in the region.
“His unwavering commitment kept the NRM Bus running,” Ogweng said. “If there was a name all NRM diehards were waiting to see on the Cabinet list, it was that of Hon. Sam Engola.”
In a sharp departure from mere praise, Ogweng used the occasion to critique a growing trend within the NRM—what he called the “unopposed ideology” practiced by self-seeking party members who view competition as war.
He warned that such leaders frame passionate young NRM cadres as “poor, ambitious, unfit, not ready for leadership, or moles,” thereby disenfranchising energetic patriots who end up “nursing political wounds in villages across Uganda, Lango inclusive.”
“Hon. Sam Engola did not subscribe to this style of NRM leadership,” Ogweng emphasized. “Rather, he was a mentor and holistic mobilizer who brought all classes of people to him
Ogweng concluded by reaffirming that President Museveni’s decision to appoint three ministers from Lango rings “a loud bell” that the NRM remains committed to ideological cadreship.
“The ‘Kisanja No Sleep’ is surely a development trailblazer for Lango and Uganda,” he wrote, signing off as an international development expert and the newly elected NRM Flag Bearer for Lira City West for the 2026–2031 parliamentary term.
