ALEBTONG, UGANDA – As the 11th Parliament draws to a close, the former Member of Parliament for Moroto County, Hon. Samuel Okwir Odwee, has officially ended his two-term tour of duty, issuing a warm and emotional farewell message to the people of Alebtong District.
In a statement addressed to “Dear Brothers and Sisters of Alebtong and Moroto County,” Odwee expressed deep gratitude for the privilege of serving alongside constituents and colleagues, describing the past two terms as “historic” and marked by collective purpose.
“Together, we have played our different roles, and served the people of Alebtong with dedication and purpose,” Odwee wrote. “These achievements are not the work of individuals, but the result of our collective commitment to our District above self.”
The outgoing lawmaker singled out the bipartisan support, friendship, and trust he received, particularly during his first term when he served as Chair of the District Roads Committee, among other roles. He noted that the cooperation and goodwill of colleagues across party lines enabled him to serve effectively and advance work with unity and dignity.
In a deeply personal tribute, Odwee remembered the late Obua Emma Uel, whose “wisdom, grace, and patriotism continue to inspire us.” He said Obua’s legacy remains etched in the history of Alebtong. He also expressed profound gratitude to all district staff with whom he had the honour of serving closely.
Quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1, Odwee reflected on the natural rhythm of public service: “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
“As one season closes, we do so with gratitude for the journey we have shared, pride in what we have accomplished together, and hope for the future of our Home,” he said.
Odwee assured the community that even though his parliamentary journey in the 11th Parliament has come to an end, “the bonds we have built, the lessons we have shared, and the legacy we leave behind will endure.”
The former MP extended best wishes to the incoming team of leaders, offering them renewed strength and success. To those taking a different path, he thanked them wholeheartedly for their service to the district and wished them God’s abundant blessings in their next chapters.
He concluded: “May God bless you all, and may God bless Moroto County and Alebtong.”
Hon. Samuel Okwir Odwee leaves behind a reputation for collaborative leadership, infrastructure advocacy, and a deep commitment to his home district. His farewell serves as both a closing statement and a blessing for Alebtong’s future.
