Lira City, 30th July 2025 — The Territorial Police in Lira City East Division have launched a serious investigation into a horrifying incident in which a 15-year-old girl was allegedly forced to eat human faeces and violently assaulted by a local couple in Ireda Lumumba Cell, Ireda Ward.

The victim, a Primary Six pupil and resident of the area, had gone to a local salon on 29th July 2025 to get a “Marine Two” hairstyle. After the hairdressing service was completed, she asked the salon owner, identified as Ongom , where she could relieve herself. She was directed to a location behind the salon, near the home of the suspects.

According to reports, as the girl was walking back from relieving herself, she was confronted by a woman identified only as Collin, who began beating her using a wire brought from inside her house.

Moments later, her husband, Otim Walter Collins, returned home and allegedly escalated the abuse. It is claimed that he threatened the girl with a machete (panga), forcing her to eat faeces found at the scene or risk being killed. Fearing for her life, the terrified girl complied.

Police Spokesperson for North Kyoga Region, Superintendent of Police (SP) Patrick Jimmy Okema, strongly condemned the incident.

“This is a very unfortunate and barbaric act. We are treating it with utmost seriousness and have pledged to investigate it to the last detail. The case file will be compiled and submitted to the Resident Chief State Attorney for perusal and legal advice,” said SP Okema.

The suspects are facing charges under Section 154 of the Penal Code Act for a negligent act likely to spread infection of disease, as well as charges of assault and child abuse.

Police are urging members of the public to report such inhumane acts promptly to ensure swift justice and protection for vulnerable individuals in the community.
