Respect the Will of the People: NRM's Mitooma Chair Moses Tumwekwatse Urges Leaders in Easter Message

MITOOMA, UGANDA – As Christians across Uganda and the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Moses Tumwekwatse, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Chairperson for Mitooma District, has issued a heartfelt Easter message calling on all Ugandans to embrace renewal, hope, and unity.

In his message addressed to party members and citizens nationwide, Tumwekwatse reflected deeply on the spiritual significance of the Easter season. He urged believers to move beyond mere celebration and instead embody the core virtues of love and forgiveness that the resurrection of Christ represents.

“In this sacred season, let us reflect on the values of love, forgiveness, and renewal that Easter teaches us,” Tumwekwatse stated. “It is a time to come together as a community, to renew our commitments to peace, progress, and national development.”

The NRM district chairperson further called upon citizens to uphold compassion and solidarity, emphasizing that these values are essential for fostering harmony in a society as diverse as Uganda’s. He noted that collective growth can only be achieved when communities embrace one another across political, ethnic, and religious lines.

Tumwekwatse also challenged party leaders and the wider political leadership to work tirelessly toward building a brighter future for all Ugandans. In a particularly pointed appeal, he reminded leaders at all levels of the importance of respecting the will of the people and striving to fulfill God’s purpose for creation.

“Leadership is a divine trust,” he said. “We must honor the people’s choices and direct our efforts toward service, not selfish ambition.”

As a message of hope and unity, Tumwekwatse concluded by congratulating the people of Uganda on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s victory in the February 2026 general elections, reaffirming his confidence in the NRM’s continued leadership for national transformation. He prayed that the spirit of Easter would bring blessings, peace, and renewed energy to every home across the nation.

“May the risen Christ guide our steps as we build a prosperous, united Uganda together,” he said.
