Lira, Uganda – A section of National Resistance Movement (NRM) diehards in Lira City are rallying behind a party cadre, Leo Aguda, whom they describe as the backbone of the party’s resilience in the region. Following what they term as "unmatched sacrifices" during the recent electoral cycles, these supporters are now openly advocating for Aguda to be appointed as the Resident District Commissioner (RDC).
The agitators argue that Aguda played a critical role in countering the opposition's influence in Lira City. According to party loyalists, he was instrumental in explaining the government’s agenda to the masses, often facing significant resistance and personal struggle to uphold the party flag. They assert that Aguda displayed unwavering commitment, even when the tide of politics turned against the party in various wards.
"Aguda is a man who loves the party with all his heart. He stood firm in his principles when others were wavering," a source close to the group stated. "He sacrificed his time and resources to promote the government agenda. It is time the party recognized his contribution." The group suggests that appointing Aguda as RDC would be a fitting reward for his steadfastness and a morale booster for other party cadres in the region who often bear the brunt of opposition strongholds.
Aguda's supporters describe him as a resilient figure who has managed to mobilize support for the NRM in an area traditionally perceived as hostile ground. The calls for his reward underscore the political dynamics within the ruling party, where loyalty and on-the-ground mobilization are often recognized through administrative appointments.
