LIRA CITY – Lango-based NRM leaders are rallying residents across the sub-region to turn out in large numbers for the 52nd birthday run of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, scheduled to take place tomorrow in Lira City, describing the event as a symbol of unity and hope for Uganda.

According to Joshua Akejo, the NRM Administrator for Lira City, the "52 MK Run for Lango" will start at 6:30AM from the Mayor's Garden. Participants will proceed to Kampala Road via Cathedral Road, continue from Odokomit onto Juba Road, loop at the uhuru bar Road roundabout, and return via Main Street to the Mayor's Garden—covering a total distance of 10 kilometers.
"This run is a sign of unity and hope for Uganda," Akejo said. "We want everyone—regardless of political affiliation—to come and celebrate a man who represents the future of this country."
In a major boost to turnout, Jacob Ocen, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Lira City, confirmed that the Health Minister and Lira City Woman MP, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, has purchased running kits for every participant who shows up for the run. Dr. Aceng also serves as the coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Lango.
"We are grateful to Dr. Jane for her generosity," Ocen said. "We also urge other leaders, including Ambassador Rebecca Otengo and others, to follow her example by purchasing running kits for their communities."
Bismark Olang, NRM Administration Secretary for Oyam District, revealed that the MK run has transcended party politics, reporting that he has received phone calls from supporters of both the UPC and FDC who plan to join the run.
"This event is not about the NRM alone," Olang said. "Since General Muhoozi was appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), there has been no corruption in the army, and those found corrupt have been dealt with decisively. That is why even opposition supporters want to stand with him."
Perhaps the most striking endorsement came from Isaac Ogwal of the Lira Chamber of Commerce, who thanked Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng for purchasing running kits for everyone. He then made a direct political prediction about the 2026 general election and beyond.
"It is time for the people of Lango to position themselves in the next government," Ogwal said. "It is now becoming clear that a transfer of leadership is coming, and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is likely the next president of Uganda."
Walter Abura, another participant, simply thanked the General for "doing a great job for the country."
Organizers expect thousands of participants, with security and medical teams placed along the 10-kilometer route. The run is part of nationwide activities marking Gen. Muhoozi's 52nd birthday.
