BAR SUB-COUNTY, LIRA DISTRICT – In a move that has brought joy to parents and students alike, Angelika Secondary School has announced that it will provide free four-inch mattresses to all incoming Senior One and Senior Five students.
The announcement was made by the school's Director, Dr. Peter Oluge, who explained that the initiative is a gesture of gratitude for the unwavering support the school has received from parents over the last five years.
"This is a sign of appreciation for the support we have been getting from parents," Dr. Oluge stated. He further emphasized that the provision of mattresses is also a strategic move to ease the financial burden on families. "This will also help reduce the expenses that parents would incur for buying mattresses, allowing them to focus on other scholastic requirements for their children."
The Headteacher of Angelika Secondary School clarified the ownership of the mattresses, assuring both students and parents that the gift is permanent. He confirmed that after completing their respective cycles of education—whether at Senior Four or Senior Six—the students will take the mattresses home with them.
The gesture has been met with widespread excitement within the school community. Parents and students who gathered for the announcement expressed their happiness and gratitude for the unexpected gift, which will significantly cut down the initial costs associated with joining a new school.
The mattress distribution is expected to take place at the start of the upcoming academic term, benefiting the newest members of the Angelika SSS family.
