Murchison Falls, Uganda — The Third Twende Zetu Pilgrimage is proceeding smoothly, with pilgrims expressing immense joy and spiritual fulfillment as the journey enters its eighth day.
The historic expedition, which commenced from Tanzania on October 1, 2026, has seen participants traverse the Ugandan landscape, combining spiritual reflection with tourism. On Tuesday, October 7, 2026, the pilgrims took a solemn pause to honor one of Uganda’s pivotal historical figures.
The group held a special Mass at Abeibuti Cell, Akokoro Town Council, the final resting place of Dr. Apollo Milton Obote. The ceremony served as a moment of reflection on the legacy of the former President and as one of the founding fathers of EAC.
Following the memorial, the pilgrimage shifted to a celebration of Uganda's natural heritage. The pilgrims visited the renowned Murchison Falls National Park, where they were captivated by the breathtaking scenery and wildlife.
On the eighth day of the journey, the highlight was a visit to the "Peak of the Nile." Pilgrims marveled at the powerful waters of the Nile River squeezing through a narrow gorge, a spectacle that left many in awe of Uganda's natural beauty.
Speaking to the pilgrims, Dr. Ronex Tendo Kisembo, the CEO of Afrika Mashariki Fest, offered words of encouragement. He urged the travelers to maintain their momentum, emphasizing the tri-fold purpose of the journey.
"I encourage you to keep praying, to learn from the history we are encountering, and to enjoy this journey," Dr. Kisembo stated. "This is not just a trip; it is a spiritual and cultural connection that binds us as East Africans."
The pilgrimage continues to be a symbol of unity and exploration, as participants from Tanzania and beyond immerse themselves in the culture and wonders of Uganda.
