Kole, Uganda – Residents of Orwoma village in Bala sub-county, Kole district, are breathing a sigh of relief after a critical road that had cut them off from essential services was finally graded, thanks to the swift intervention of the district leadership.
The breakthrough came after Mr. Hassan Obong, the proprietor of Good Motors Spares in Lira City, visited his village in Bala on Sunday. Upon arrival, he discovered district workers actively grading the road from Bala to Pida Amola in Ayer. The 3.9-kilometer stretch, which runs through Orwoma village in Agege Parish, had been in a state of disrepair, blocking residents from traveling and moving their goods.
Determined to see the project through to completion, Mr. Obong immediately placed a call to the Kole District Chairperson, Engineer Moses Oteng. Demonstrating prompt and effective leadership, Eng. Oteng took charge of the situation. He contacted the site engineer on the ground and allowed Obong to fuel the grader, ensuring the work could continue without interruption.
Speaking about the development, Mr. Obong expressed his profound gratitude to the District Chairperson for his visionary leadership.
"I want to thank Engineer Moses Oteng for being a leader with a vision for developing Kole," Obong stated. "When I called him, he didn't hesitate. He acted immediately. This shows he is a man of action who cares about the people. I pledge to always support him in any development matters that arise in this district."
In response, Engineer Moses Oteng reiterated his commitment to unity and inclusive development across Kole district. He emphasized that his administration is dedicated to serving every resident, regardless of their location or political affiliation.
"I have come to unite the people of Kole, and I will ensure that I work for everyone in this district," said Eng. Oteng. "Development is not about politics; it is about the welfare of our people."
The Chairperson also took the opportunity to commend the residents of Orwoma for their cooperation and sacrifice. He noted that the project was made easier because the locals willingly allowed the grader to pass through their gardens without complaint, demonstrating a shared commitment to community progress.
For the locals, who have been stranded for months, the opening of the road has restored their access to markets, health centers, and schools. They extended their heartfelt appreciation to both Mr. Obong for his advocacy and Chairman Oteng for his decisive action, hailing the duo as heroes who have brought much-needed relief to the community.
